Skin & Bones (by Corinne Alexandra)
I developed a reputation for always drawing skulls. I think people thought I had a morbid fascination with death (I do, but that’s not why I draw them, haha). I just love the light and dark values featured across the different shapes and grooves and cracks. I always think of this quote from Georgia O’Keeffe, “Bones do not symbolize death to me. They are shapes that I enjoy. It never occurs to me that they have anything to do with death. They are very lively. And I enjoy them.” I set out to draw forms I enjoy – skulls and the female figure. I love the way light favors both, making them equally sensual and beautiful. The reference image is a photo of myself and one of my skulls. (View more details & process photos on my blog!)

From now until Sunday (August 12th at midnight), you can get FREE shipping on all prints in my Society6 store by using THIS link.
In light of this special offer, I’ve made “Daisy” now available as a print in my store for just $18. This was my favorite photo from my book Curiosities, Etcetera and thought it deserved its own separate print.
As always, any purchase is greatly appreciated and the support I receive from fans of my work keeps me going!

I was about to throw out these flowers and somehow ended up making something.

Anyways! Enough gibber-jabber about dead animals. If you like my work and want to support me, please consider buying some of my art. My minibook Curiosities, Etcetera is still available for purchase on Blurb and I still have plenty of my prints of Ossuary up on my shop (first five orders get a special original drawing with their purchase).

Please check these out (I’m a starving, broke artist).

“Ossuary” - Limited Edition Giclee Print
Limited run giclée reproduction of my charcoal painting is now for sale at my store. Only 10 prints of this will ever be created, so snatch yours up while they’re available! The first 5 buyers will get a small handdrawn original piece with their print!
Order yours at corinnealexandra.bigcartel.com!

Prints: Which size would you prefer?

I’m looking to finally have this charcoal drawing made available as prints. I’m planning on doing a limited run of giclée reproductions. The original piece measures at 32x18, so obviously that’s a bit large (not to mention, expensive) for the average print collector. So taking size and cost into consideration, which would you be more interested in purchasing and owning?

A larger, more commanding 24”x13” - $65
Or an average 18”x10” - $45

Any suggestions are a huge help to me and your interest in my artwork is, as always, greatly appreciated! :)

“Grotesque art has always captivated me. To be able to take what is typically disturbing and manifest something challengingly beautiful is a fascinating expression of creativity.”
One of my favorite photos from my new book. Please check out the book and consider supporting me with a purchase!
My mini-book is now available on Blurb!
For those who have ever wanted to purchase some of my art in print, now’s your chance! Rather than buying one photo for over $20, the book is a 40pg 7x7 softcover with 18 full-spread photographs for just $28.50 (that’s $1.50 per photo).
As always, I’m happy to share my artwork with the public, so I’ve made the entire book available for preview on Blurb. But if you can, any purchases to support me are greatly appreciated!
Order your copy here! And please spread the word. :)
